Introduction

Puerto Caucedo is the only deep-water container port on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. Located 25km from the capital of Santo Domingo, Puerto Caucedo is a modern facility opened in 2003 and is responsible for 30% of all maritime cargo in the Dominican Republic.
 
The port is privately owned and operated by DP World and has an annual capacity of 1.68 million TEU, handling over 1,150 vessels at its two quays. 
 
Even with this ability to handle so much freight, the port needs more capacity to solidify Puerto Caucedo as a regional trade hub.
 
To initiate this expansion DP World evaluated many testing options then reached out to the Ougan Group regarding the use of the Super Pile load cell and the vast experience of the Ougan Group.  In the end, the Ougan Group and our Super Cell were awarded the contract for all testing at berth C3 in Puerto Caucedo.
 
The bi-direction static load test is for two 1.4m diameter piles, each with a 9,000kN load capacity.  Besides, there is a lateral load test on a third pile.  The Ougan Group is proud to unfurl our banner “Ougan Super Cell Load to Success” once again in the beautiful Caribbean.
