Bapco modernization program in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Introduction

Recently Ougan engineers successfully completed bi-directional load tests on two piles at Bapco Modernization Program (BMP).  The piles that were tested have a diameter of 0.6 meters and a maximum compression load of 6900 and a maximum tension load of 3600. This is the first use of the Super Cell in Bahrain.

 

The Bapco Modernization Program (BMP) represents a major expansion and upgrade of the current facility and will increase the maximum output at the terminal to 380 thousand barrels of crude oil per day from the current production of 267 thousand barrels, including storage facilities for 14 million barrels of oil. Bapco operates a refinery complex which is located in eastern Bahrain on the Arabian Gulf coast. 90% of Bapco’s production is exported through this terminal. 
 

In the initial bidding stage, the method statement submitted by the Ougan Group and the testing company was accepted by the design engineer and the contractor. Upon seeing the value of the Super Cell, the Ougan Group was then given two pile tests to perform in the oil and gas storage facility.

 

In the end the customer was delighted with the performance of the Super Cell and the professional service provided by our engineers. Before the end of the testing the customer said that they will be using the Super Cell and the Ougan group to perform more testing in the future.
